Firm Fills Shoe Boxes With Presents For Children
Dozens of shoeboxes with Christmas goodies for children are on their way abroad from a Brigg business.
Accountants and business advisers TurnerWarran has collected the shoeboxes for children living in poverty and fear across Africa, Eastern Europe and central Asia.
The collection, from the company’s Brigg office on Bridge Street, was part of what is described as the world’s largest children’s Christmas project, Operation Christmas Child. The latter is an initiative of a charity called Samaritan’s Purse.
TurnerWarran carries out a charity initiative each Christmas.
Marketing co-ordinator Will Hall said: “Quite a number of the shoeboxes were donated by clients. We were overwhelmed by the number of shoeboxes we received and the generosity of people.”
He added: “People really didn’t have lots of time to get donations in but we still managed to get lots of shoeboxes”
Mr Hall explained that they had to extend the deadline in order to get all the boxes in because people had been asking if they still had time to donate.
The shoeboxes have now gone to a collection centre prior to being forwarded to the recipient countries.
Children in a total of 13 countries benefit from the initiative.
Contents of the shoeboxes include items such as toys, colouring books, pencils and crayons.
